Hello,
we got 2 nearly identical iMacs, one Retina and one not, both with identical OSX and apps.

When I connect my SONY camera to the non-Retina one, it is correctly USB-mounted as 3 devices.
However, when I connect the camera to the Retina iMac, also Photos pops up, which I don't want.
I can not find a preference that could prevent this behaviour.
Thanks for reading.

Click the 'Import' tab on Photos.

Towards the left-hand side (underneath the close/maximise traffic light system), you'll see your SONY device listed. Untick the option 'Open Photos for this device'.

This will then prevent it from auto-opening the app in future when you connect your camera.
