Photos: Updating 39,000 Photos.....

I just got the new MacBook and copied my 110 GB Photo Library to it. Opened it and now it says Updating....

How many hours or days will it take? Do I have to keep the app open or just the computer running?

I guess the other way would be to start downloading all my pix from scratch from the cloud, but I guess that would slow down my internet connection and also take a long time.

Did you enable iCloud Photo Library? If so it is probably also going to upload those photos to the cloud which could take a while depending on your connection amongst other things...
