Hi, Veterans. The heading above seemed to be the best way to describe my problem in just a few words. However, really to explain it, here, may seem to be long-winded. If it does, please excuse this, and I shall be as brief as possible in setting out my difficulty.
I am running Mac OSX Sierra 10.12.5, and use Photoshop CS6. Now, mostly, Photoshop runs fine in my regular user (Administrator) account. However, recently, I have found out how to apply Image-based Lights in Photoshop, and all is not well with this function. It does not seem to be specifically a Photoshop problem — rather, it seems to be a problem with Mac usage (even though Photoshop is involved). However, for anyone trying to help, some knowledge of Photoshop would certainly be useful.
When rotating Image-based lights, it ought to be possible to rotate through an infinite number of degrees, since the "handle" or tool for rotating them is not just a circle — it is a globe. However, I find that these lights can only be rotated through 360 degrees, as if the circle in the middle were just a circle, not a globe. No matter what I do, it does not provide full functionality.
HOWEVER, when, using a "virgin" other-user account, created specially to test out this matter, I open Photoshop, and try using Image-based lights, they will rotate through the infinity of degrees that a globe provides, and all is well. There is no problem with them whatsoever.
In my regular user account, I have tried quitting all of my log-in items, one at a time, to see whether any of these half-dozen or so apps are in conflict with Photoshop, this makes no difference whatsoever. Photoshop IBLs still malfunction. When using the virgin, unused "Test User" Account, which has no log-in items to consider, Photoshop works just fine, in all respects — including Image-based light rotation.
Can anyone offer a useful suggestion as to what may be wrong?
With thanks in advance, to anyone that can help,
ClodHopper
