I want to upgrade my mid 2012 macbook pro from Yosemite to High Sierra but I want to know that my very old Photoshop CS3 will still work once I upgrade. I am wary about doing anything that will end my long relationship with this old Photoshop software.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter? Any advice much appreciated!

PS - I know subscribing to a service to receive new Photoshop is an option but I'd like to stay with my old software if possible.

According to https://roaringapps.com Photoshop CS3 will work with High Sierra you can download the roaring Apps app from the page I have linked to, this will give you a table of your apps on your Mac and the compatibility with various Mac OS's. Another thing to consider is any printers or scanners etc may not be compatible with High Sierra, you will need to ask the manufacturers of any hardware devices you use with your Mac to see if they have drivers and updates for High Sierra.

It should work but keep in mind that CS3 will 100% not work on the next version of macOS, since it is a 32-bit only application. You might want to grab a copy of CS6 at some point.

We don't yet know with certainty that the next version of macOS will not run 32-bit applications. We know that there will be "compromises" in doing so. Nonetheless, with each major update to macOS, CS3 gets less and less likely to continue working.
