Photoshop crashing- unable to scan with Brother DCP-7030 using MAC OS X 10.4.11

I need some help with troubleshooting a problem. I figured I would put it here instead of where printer troubleshooting would be because some of you might have had the same problem. I am trying to scan with a Brother DCP-7030 scanner/copier and it is making Photoshop Crash on MAC OS X 10.4.11. Other than updating driver, could anything else be wrong? This has only been happening for a couple of days. Thanks for your help.
