Photoshop CS2 filters not working

I have a MAC OS 10.4.11 and when i am applying filters on a 8 bit image (rastered) I get an audio error beep with no message. Photoshop then freezes.

The following files have been trashed before installing CS2 again:
CS2 application folder; Preferences / Paths / Settings
Com.adobe.photoshop.Plist

I have loaded the Mac OS over again also, but am avoiding the formating and loading all programs again.

What am I missing, simple talk is best. Thanks

I must be a Lebber, no replies!

I went and registered on the Adobe.com forum site and got some good help there.

The answer to my problems in case someone runs across the same things was fixed by a system wide preferences rebuild. Restarted the OS with Control-option-shift buttons down.
