Since the upgrade to Mountain Lion i can't open Canon CR2 files at all. Spoke to adobe who are useless. Adobe updater is not working either. Can anyone help.

Found this link on Adobes site, looks like CS4 is not supported. Yes its 3 years old and might need to be thrown away.

Really, because the link you provided says CS3 and CS4 were tested with Mountain Lion and there are no known issues.
I just requested Adobe swap my CS5 license from Windows to Mac. They have to mail me a new disk as CS5 can not be downloaded now. So the support for CS4 from Adobe is likely to be very low or non existent. But as least you can upgrade from CS4 to CS6. For us CS5 is likely our last version. We typically only need Lightroom and some plugins for photo processing.
