When I copy a transparent background to the clipboard and paste to a application outside of adobe the transparency turns to white. Within photoshop the transparency is kept. The only way around this I have found is to save as a png then open in preview and copy out of preview into the program I am working in.

Does any one know why I can't copy out of photoshop keeping the transparent background?

Thanks

It's not the clipboard that's the problem because you can copy and paste transparent layers between Photoshop files. It's the apps that you're trying to paste into that don't recognise native transparency in .psds.

What are the apps that are giving you problems? There might be other workarounds.
