I am trying to run Photoshop Elements 2.0 on my C2D MacBook. I have 1GB of RAM. I have used it before but for some reason now when I launch it it starts doing an auto-update of some kind and the fans kick on big time and I get a beach ball and nothing else happens. I can use other programs but PE2 us using 99-100% of the CPU and nothing seems to be happening.

Is there any way I can stop this update? Or make it work? It looks like it's downloading files and the progress indicator does go almost all the way to the end but I have waited for quite a while and it never finishes.

Disconnect and disable your network through System Preferences and then open Photoshop. It should open this time because it won't try looking for the update. Now, head to the Preferences and disable Automatic Update. :)

Sorry, forgot to post. Yes it did work. Thanks so much.

This happened to me too. Thanks for the help.

(I don't want to upgrade until a universal binary version is released.)
