Photoshop elements book?!?

I got photoshop elements for the holiday, and thought i would get a book and maybe learn something....
I looked at apple and they don't have any books on elements....I went online and can't find any elements books that are mac...only pc
Any suggestions....

After first reading your request, I wasn't sure that there would be that big of a difference between Mac and Windows versions of PE, but then I remembered reading that the Organizer was not present in the Mac version. That said, the only other difference I would imagine (and I'm sure others will correct me if I'm wrong) is that the keyboard shortcuts would be a bit different--but aren't we all already used to that?

That being said, I saw what you mean... a few people reviewing books online noted that they were written more towards Windows users, but they never said it made the books unusable. In fact, many reviewers gave high marks to some of the books while noting that keyboard shortcuts had to be modified and entire chapers (ie those about Organizer) could be omitted. You might also want to note that some noted that the only big difference between these current books and previous versions was info about Organizer, so you might be able to save money and buy an old version.

One that I saw that seemed to be pretty well received was "The Photoshop Elements 3 Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby. It apparently does have the limitations previously mentioned, but does reportedly give Mac keyboard shortcuts.

My Kelby book arrived today. It's one of several PSE books I've got and imo one of the better, more useful ones, though the first v3 I've seen.

Kelby states that his book is oriented toward Windows, but Mac users should simply skip Chapter Two on the Organizer. The reality is that the Mac and PC versions are otherwise more similar than different. Other than some obvious keystroke differences I've seen nothing in the book that would confuse a new PSE3 user.

To me it does not seem like a strict beginner's book, but more an intermediate level read. That's a good thing, as intelligent Mac users such as you don't need to be told the simple stuff--he gets to how it can work on your photos.

There are good learning sources other than books if you are so inclined. You'll find many tutorials on the web and be sure to look at Adobe's PSE users' forum. It is well moderated, friendly, and informative. Their web site is much more satisfactory than the available Usenet presentation of it, plus all the useless Usenet trash that happens.

Have fun with PSE3. It's a great program and real bargain in software. Set yourself a project to accomplish on some of your photos and learn how to make it happen!
