Photoshop like programs

Are there any FREE programs, similar to adobe photoshop, which i can get for free? Obviously it won't be nearly as good as adobe photoshop, but I like to just mess around with pics and I don't think there's anything on my mac that allows me to do it. Thanks.

The GIMP. www.gimp.org

It's very good. Some hate it because it requires X11, but I think it's great. It's free, so you can't beat that.

The Gimp is the best you're gonna get. If you're already used to photoshop, you may want to try Gimpshop, which is the same as Gimp but with a few interface differences to make it more similar to Photoshop.

Also if you don't need quite that much power and don't like X11, there's also Seashore, which is based on the Gimp's engine, but it's a native Mac application.

I'm actually trying out pixelmator right now. What do u guys think? Gimp better than pixelmator?

Pixelmator isn't free however. I like using it though.

Try Seashore (it is free).

I've used Gimp before moving to Mac and it worked great even then.

Everything is free in my world. Its a great application.

if you want something free Seashore is great. I only do basic stuff but its been good and stable.
