Despite having loads of Ram, I have just opened a not very large photoshop file 27M/147M and it only loaded at 80% efficiency.

Even though there is still over 400 Mb of free disk space and 800 Mb of inactive space.

Photoshop is set to have 70% of ram.

Surely it should open at 100% why is it writing to disk?

How are you finding these efficiency persentages? Which Mac are we dealing with, and how much RAM is a lot of RAM? As for the files, those are not small, or at least I have worked with smaller ones. And what is the 400 MB, is that RAM or disk space?
