I really got interested in digital painting lately, but I've noticed some serious problems with Photoshop when using a Wacom Intuos 4 tablet.
I'm using a late 2013 MBPR 15" (minimal spec + 16GB RAM), Yosemite and Photoshop CC. Photoshop is extremely laggy when I use the laptop's monitor, but works fine if I use an external monitor. My guess is, that the problem is in the insane resolution of the retina screen, and the (not so powerful) Intel Iris graphics card. I usually draw on a A4 format with 300dpi, so the file size should not be the problem.
Is the problem Yosemite? Is there a way to actually reduce the resolution of the retina screen (not just scaling)? ...tips?
