I usually wouldn't notice this but on the e-bay main page ... I see a 3G iPod in color! Is that even possible?

The iPod photo debuted as a 3G device i think, that would mean there are some color 3G iPods out there.

Nah i am almost positive the iPod photo started as the 4G

Yep the iPod Photo was the 4G just checked apple-history.com

They wanted color in the graphic and it was cheaper to Photoshop a colored screen onto an iPod they already had than it was to go out and buy a new iPod.

I vaguely remember that someone from Apple ... relatively high up, like a VP ... actually clarified to the press, too, that the iPod Photo did not represent the 5th generation of the iPod.... Which is a kind of bizarre random thing to need clarification, but.... ;)

Kinda like how those Windows laptops are always running OS X in commercials. Cheaper to superimpose an image on the screen than to buy a new Mac :p
