So, I bought a 32GB Gold iPhone 5s.

Got in, and noticed a nick on the side. I then turned it on and a black pixel caught my eye straight away, it was a dead pixel.

This is going back for sure.

I'd of thought after a month or two, there would no longer be any issues!

Just thought I'd share my short experience with you!

UPDATE: Replaced the iPhone 5s in-store, opened the first box, it has TWO dead pixels, opened another box, the iPhone 5s had THREE dead pixels (I'm not joking), opened another box and as I was so focussed on the screen looking for dead pixels I wasn't looking at the actual phone, got home and noticed a chip on the side. I believe I may the one of the unluckiest people, all I want is a phone with no chips and no dead pixels!

Translation - I nicked up my brand new 5s right out the box so I immediately looked for some sort of flaw to justify returning it.

Of course because none of iPhone 5 or 5s's were already scratched in the box! never! Apple would never allow such thing to happen.

Well, there's always your side, your iPhones side and then the truth ;D

I can say not all phones are pristine out of the box. My current phone has 2 "bumps" on the sides of the screen. Can't tell if it's the coating on the edge or the glass itself that has the defect but either way, it's there. Not really an issue for me.

The point? Sub par phones with quality issues exist. Don't downplay others because you got a "perfect" phone. :)

Yes, you are indeed one of the unluckiest people. Seriously tops everything. I wish the best for you because I certainly couldn't live knowing I had such bad luck.

PS - how big is the "chip" and does it affect functionality of the phone?

This "chip" is very small but very annoying. No, it doesn't effect the functionality of the phone.

Thanks for wishing me the best, it means a lot.

Happened to me too, picked up a brand new space grey 5S from ATT and it had 3 dead pixels on the screen and locked up on restore. Convinced the ATT guy to do a store swap.

3hr headache

It's semantics. Are you trying to be funny or difficult?

Looks like the OP bought it in store. Should have caught it before leaving the store because it's now too late. There's no leverage like buying online and receiving a predamaged iPhone.

It is just Apple forum members doing what they do best and is what makes this place "special"!:p
