Was looking for an M4 Pro Mini on the Apple UK refurb store but they only had M2 models. Amazon had 2 x M4s - one described as very good and the other as good with a smallish price difference.

Unable to get any detailed info out of Amazon behind those descriptions, so took both with a view to seeing if there were cosmetic or even functional differences, then returning one.

They were just delivered today and a quick Look suggests cosmetically they're both fine - I'll need to have a proper look tomorrow.

What I wanted to ask for advice on was - the best stress and functional tests to run. Just to prove to myself that they're both working fine.

Apple diagnostics should hopefully be enough to test the functionality?

But what about stress / performance?

233 reads / no replies - not sure what to make of that.

Update in case anyone finds this useful later on-

Ran Apple diagnostics on boot up - no issues flagged - didn't time it but it wasn't long at all.

Found the Stats app has the option to stress test cores - both cpu types & the gpu - each type singly or all 3 simultaneously. Been running all 3 for a few hours - fan is audible and running at 2500 or less. Other than fan noise that no signs of any issues.
