I know this topic has been covered multiple times, but then the discussion was between the 2.4 and 2.54 UMBP models. Now, with the updated "high-end" stock config I am not sure which to buy, before I was leaning towards the 2.4 because I could not justify the price increase for the relatively small speed increase I would be getting. But now I am thinking that because I am going to replace my old 17 SR MBP, I might as well go for the higher end version.

I will use this computer for some light gaming, photo editing, word processing, HD movie playback, and just typical web browsing. From what I have read I will not see a large increase based on the processor/cache and video ram but will these combined give me a noticeable speed increase?

I am looking to keep this computer for 2+ years.

Not worth it. You could upgrade the RAM yourself for far less. You could throw in an SSD, too.

You can't double the graphics memory though after sale. Or double the L2 cache. Both those are stuck for the life of the machine.
