Hi guys,

An Apple rep sent me a picture of supposed water damage on my MacBook. He said these black dots showed water damage, along with some stuff on the big silver thing (USB?).

I did NOT spill water on this machine, and it has been in for repair 4 times. The picture's Exif data (not the one below...that is a screenshot) shows it is dated in 2008. He just said the camera date was off...

Thoughts? Is this legit? Is that water damage?

Thanks!

You'd better call up AppleCare and get Customer Relations on the line.

Explain to them that they suspect water damage, but the machine has been in 3 times before with no other signs, yet the same issues are occurring.

They tried to screw me over a few weeks back with my Macbook Pro, saying that I "ripped off some of the keyboard keys" and called it accidental damage.

Let me know if you need any help!

Ask them to take a new picture with correct time and date, and have them verify it with a newspaper on the picture showing the same date.

A picture with wrong date seems not right

I'm sure the friendly folks at the Apple Repair Center don't care about setting their cameras' date/time.

The charring around the battery connector is common on older MacBooks, and is not indicative of abuse. They should not decline the repair unless there are other signs of liquid damage.

Were there other photos?
