Pictures in contacts after OTA syncing?

I use an exchange server for OTA syncing of contacts, calender, and email. I used to have pictures associated with contacts, but ever since the OTA syncing, they are gone. Has anyone figured out a way to do this outside of simply taking pictures after the fact and adding them to the contact on the phone?
