Pictures sync problem

I put my pictures from my sd card on to my pc. I then sync the pictures on to my iPhone. The problem I'm having is I can't delete individual pictures such as duplicates or wallpapers that I had on my Android phone. I tried putting the pictures back on my pc but the only pictures that I can select to put back are the ones I took with my iPhone. I don't have the pictures on the sd card as I format it thinking I can just easily transfer the pictures from the iPhone to the pc. Boy was I wrong. Any help is appreciated.
