Pictures won't show up in iphoto

I open iphoto and its blank. I go to my HD and I see the pictures in my iphoto folder. Also the side part on iphoto won't show, the option to look at events and past 12 months and so on...How do I fix all of that?

try and open your photo's in iphoto!
- Select all of them!
- right click open with
- iphoto

Where are your photos stored on your HD (what's the file path)? Can you post a screenshot of iPhoto (Push Command-Shift-4 to take a full screen shot which will show up on your desktop).
