I've seen a few people asking how to get Adium looking good etc. Well, in my eyes, my Adium is a sexy little beast.

To begin with Adium can be downloaded here

Now it's time to make it look better. It's a very versatile app and almost everything about it can be customised to be just how you want it.

I use Universal Black [which can be found here]. Just click on install and begin using it.

Step One

Step Two
Click on the Customize button next to the List Layout Menu.

Step Three
Start adjusting things. I've only used original fonts so you should have them on your Mac.

Now you have a pimped out Adium.

Now post your own...

I changed the font, but kept the layout:

What message style are you using?

I don't really like mine...

Here's a style, based on Smooth Operator, that I made for spring time to match my website:

You can download it here.
You should submit that to Adium Xtras, maybe as Somatic Smooth Operator, or something...:p

I would suggest you guys all give the Fresh! Contact list style a try. A few changes I made: changed font to Lucida Grande 15 for contact font, and Skia Regular 19 for Group names). It gives it far more appeal than the font that the creator uses in his demo screenshots. I use this when a transparent layout isn't practical (ie when I'm not rotating through my black/dark wallpapers).

Does anyone know where to get "Metal Adium" now? There site is down.. :(

Yeah Adium is a very nice looking app when tweaked. In my sig there is a link to all my extras but this page shows what Adium is capable of contact list wise.

Hey there Diatribe,

Congrats on your work.

I was wondering, I downloaded your contact list templates, but, how can I get them to show the "circled" edges, like its shown on the images in the link you posted.

Saludos

Thank you, I am glad you like it. :)

I'm not quite sure if I understand what you're talking about but if you mean the round edges of the contact list then you have to set the "Windows Style" to "Group Bubbles" in the appearance preferences.
Hope that helped.

How can I get my message boxes to appear transparent, like the contact window?

This is to be a feature of 1.0 afaik. I can't find a link to the beta though to see if it's true...
