Pinched Nerve in Finger

I recently was bit by a friend on my pointer finger. She was just messing around then fell backwards and bit harder. It hurt that night then the next day the pain went away but the tip of my finger was numb. It got a little better the next few days but has stopped. HAs anyone had any experience with a pinched nerve? will the feeling most likely come back? is there anything i can do to help?

IANAD (Although my father is an orthopedic surgeon... hand surgeon, oddly enough!) but I think there could be a bit of damage if the bite was hard enough.

Which finger was bitten, and on which hand? Have you noticed any bruising, hematomas or anything of that sort?

no there is no bruising or anything. just numb at the tip of my right pointer finger.

That would be the median nerve that you think is pinched. Compression is most often the cause of a pinched nerve in the hand (go figure). Pinched nerves aren't always serious, but if the pain doesn't die down within a week you'll want to see a doctor ASAP (as if you shouldn't already see a doctor about it. )

Again, IANAD, but Naproxen or Ibuprofen are your best bets for quick pain relief. See a doctor anyway, though, just to make sure it's not major damage.

EDIT: Oh, and also, ice. I had a pinched nerve in my elbow not too long ago and ice helped immensely.

thank you. there has been zero pain for about 3 days now so hopefully that is good news. damn the luck but im getting my wisdom teeth out monday so i'll pry wait and see how it feels in a week or so before i contact a doctor

ROFL... that's a cllassic!
But I have had a pinched nerve before- but it was in my neck. It hurt so bad. Ice and heat did the trick in a couple of days.
Hope your finger feels better.
