I just started experiencing this issue Friday and am able to duplicate the effect 99% of the time through a single strange process... When I open a folder with images, select all the images, and then view the selected images in a slideshow a crunchy-data/pixelated graphic effect occurs on my screen. Here are some screenshots I managed to grab before the effect quickly flickered away:

I went to apple today and they ran a general diagnostic on the machine. The results came back with nothing. They saw the effect themselves and expressed some concern. I was advised to come back and leave my computer with them for two days (which would be really hard being a full time student and photographer who utilizes the laptop a majority of the day).
Can anyone please help me? I am reaching out to you before the laptop becomes completely unsalvageable and toasted.

I'm a little scared :(
