Hi guys,
I found this discussion at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4637512 to be very helpful in solving a colour cast issue I was having.
Using the calibration tool in system preferences with advanced settings box checked (as was mentioned in the post) I moved the slider a small bit towards the 'green' in all five stages. I left the gamma at 2.2 and white point to default.. It has worked out for me. It neutralised the colour the grey.
I think if you have a colour cast (say yellow) moving the slider a small bit towards the opposite colour (along the line/axis) may help you too!
All the best.

P.S I have always struggled to get screens to calibrate even with calibration software. I'm delighted to have found out this tip. I hope ye have some luck also.
