Pioneer BDR-S06 no longer mounts

I just got a new bluray player Pioneer BDR-SX06..usb3..plugged into my 5k imac and dvd immediately opened and movie Avatar began playing...so next I opened handbrake to try to rip ...hb crashed a couple of times and now the dick no longer mounts (used to show disc on screen)...and nothing shows under USB devices in system report...tired rebooting, booting to backup os and even parallels...what the heck..any ideas ?..
