I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a Pioneer DEH-P980BT which has Bluetooth built-in. Does anyone else have this deck and had any luck getting it to pair automatically? I have the phone paired to the deck fine, but it does not automatically connect when the deck gets power.

Thanks!

DEH-P980BT - Auto-pairing with iPhone?

I have the exact same problem. I am trying to get it to pair with the same pioneer and the iphone 3gs to listem to music. It works, but it requires me to enter the pin every time. Also, The functiuon in the DEH-P980BT manual to change the pin is not there on my deck.

Thanks,

Ryan

Yea I have the same set-up, auto-connect wont work  The easiest way to connect is to save the phone as default on headunit and connect manually using the headunit. Atlest that way no pin is neaded..

While I am not familiar with this deck, I would recommend to check to make sure you do not need to also register the phone with the radio. I have a Pioneer AVIC-D3 and not only do you have to pair the phone, you need to register it also for the phone to automatically connect via bluetooth in the future. IF you do not do both steps, then you are stuck doing the same thing that you guys are experiencing with entering in the pin each time and re-pairing the phone.

Hope it works out for you.

I had the pioneer 9800bt and had the same autoconnect problem.

The new line of head units from pioneer with parrot bluetooth will auto-connect the iphone. I just got the deh-710 today and the autoconnect is flawless.

Plus it has a nice voice recognition system for making calls, it will see and use the phonebook from the iphone without any need for importing it. BT Audio works great. Call quality via BT is top notch. I can't wait to drive my car to work tomorrow morning. Hope I get a call.. heheh..

Using the Remote

xjames, have you been able to search the phone book from the remote? I can bring up the phone book and traverse the letters, but I can't transmit an 'enter' to scroll through the phone book? I can do this through the 'multi-control' on the unit. thanks in advance

Blue tooth on this kinda stinks

The blue tooth is kinda lame when I try to listen to music through the BT audio it glitches and will completely cut out for the first couple minutes and what a headache to connect I have go to function then select connect, then when it is connected I have to select audio from headphone to hear it not through bluetooth which a have to do if I want to listen to music uninterrupted. Also wish I could use the phonebook from the deck instead of using the phone would be cool.

The BT audio works fine for me. My phone is paired and so when I select BT Audio and play music on my phone, it plays on the head unit without further complications. Rarely I have an audio glitch like a small pause. (DEH 710)

Sorry Doug, but I havent tested using the phonebook with the remote. I'll write here if I find something.

where do i get the passcode to sync my ipod touch 16gig 2nd gen to my raido p980 bt????
