I have a 20" imac intel (white casing) with a PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06 drive in it. It is taking a crap and wont release the cd that is in it. i tried all the tricks so i think my next step is removing the drive. Is there any way of shutting the drive off thought the computer so that it does not recognize it or is my only option taking it apart and removing the disk so that it stops trying to run? also im looking at a external drive for myself now but i want something with a decent price , i would like firewire is i could swing it. if you have any advice it would be greatly appreciated. I can change the drive in the unit myself since i have had the case open already i just cany seem to find the PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K06 online anywhere. any help please?

i tried all the methods in the above link.
i even took apart my imac, took apart the cd drive, and took out the cd.
then i put it all back together, and put in another cd.
now that cd wont eject.
(ps: i have the same imac and dvd drive as the original poster)
