PIP working for Apple TV - but nothing else not working for me?

So I’ve (kinda) kept upto date with the YouTube app not working with PIP which I understand at this point...

But I am still not getting YouTube to work in PIP in safari - I did a quick google search and seen articles from variety of times and dates since ios14 saying it’s worked at launch, then it’s not working, then working again - but at this moment in time I can’t get it to work

and also on a separate thing - when I try and watch a Macrumors video embedded on the website - it’s not working either - is this because it’s still a YouTube video?

Only thing I’ve watched in PIP is Apple TV and a FaceTime call

There’s no proper options for PIP in settings so has anyone got any ideas?

Do you have Start PiP Automatically enabled?

Its in Settings > General > Picture in Picture

I couldn't get a youtube video on one of the macrumors news article with safari to go into PiP when I put safari in the background (press home button to get to homescreen). I was able to get that same video to play in PiP when I used firefox and put it in background to watch that same video, so I guess it just isnt working in safari.
