In New MacBook Air Models Coming Soon With These Rumored Features, under a “Likely” sub-head came across this gem: "The new models will likely support up to two external displays, even when the lid is open.”

Even with “rumored features” prominent in the headline, on a scale of a never-gonna-happen 1 to just-about-certain 10, what’s the best guess?

Adding features from a Pro to an Air potentially reduces the charm [and value] of the former, but if it turns out to be for realz then Apple may be on to something by considerably boosting MBA's appeal to a larger consumer base.

I don't think the rumors are going to be close. Multiple monitor support, three thunderbolt 4 ports. That puts the machine too close to the MacBook Pro. It would certainly jeopardize MacBook Pro sales. Apple is not that stupid. In my opinion the M4 Air will have one external monitor support with case open and keep the two thunderbolt ports.
