pipedaemon - anyone heard of it?

ok, so I wake my laptop up from sleep, and I see this app launch and then leave the dock.

I run top since i cought its name- pipedaemon. find it in the processes, and it seems to be doing absolutely nothing (from terminal's top):

this gets me worrying. is this some piece of spyware? anyone else have it installed on your machine? any idea people? i don't like applications running that i do not know about.


edit- i was working on deleting it. found it in an hp folder. i just installed the drivers for an hp 3-in-1 printer. will be deleteing this app now. i will leave this thread up if anyone ever has this same question about this obscure app, pipedaemon.

It appears to be part of the HP all in one driver stack. I deleted the whole package as the version for my PSC 1210 REALLY doesn't like Panther and fast user switching.....I can print using Apple drivers but my scanner is offline until they fix the driver.

pipedaemon is used for Classic printing in 10.2
Since Classic printing isn't supported in Panther I wouldn't worry about it... then again it isn't supported in Jaguar either.
