Pismo making a buzzing sound

Every minute or so the Pismo makes a brief buzz sound and the display brightness goes down one notch also for a brief moment like a little flicker. This happens whether booted into an OS, in sleep mode or turned off with the lid closed but plugged into the mains.

I have tried it with the battery inserted and removed and with the PRAM battery plugged and unplugged and neither make a difference. The charger is a third party one and I don't have another one to test.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I would recommend discontinuing use of that power adapter immediately. If you want to keep using the machine, take the time to find a proper power supply.

I left it alone for a couple of days and it seems to have fixed itself, phew! Battery seems to be good for a few hours too.

Maybe it was just having a little tantrum after being left to gather dust for the best part of a year.
