Hi everyone,

I've just released my second free app, Pixellate Camera. It captures photos inspired by the look of the Gameboy Camera. All done on device. No data collection, no ads, no internet required.

It doesn't 1:1 replicate Gameboy Camera images (it takes a full 160x144 instead of 128x112, for example) but it gives a similar look. The photos are 4x upscaled on save so they don't show as blurry in the native gallery app.

Features:
  • Selectable Palettes
  • Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness options. (Turning down sharpness below 0 makes it process more similar to Gameboy Cam)
  • Pinch to zoom, double tap to reset
  • Front and Back camera options
  • Saves with Metadata (including the option to Geotag)
  • Option to save at 1x

I'd love to see some of your pictures! Enjoy :)

Nice! But the app is not available in my country (France). Is that expected?

I am unfortunately not in the position to comply with the EU DSA "Trader" rules for a hobby project, and while at the moment I only make free apps I might have an unrelated paid one in the future. (RSS)

As far as I have been able to understand, I already probably do count as a trader, but absolutely would in that situation. (Even if the paid app was unavailable in the EU, but free ones were available.) It doesn't make financial sense for me to get an EU post box and phone number, and I am leery of just hoping they don't enforce the DSA on small developers.
