Is the Apple Pixlet codec best suited for any particular medium or situation? Why does it exist? ( historic or otherwise )
 
it was useful back when computers weren't really capable of playing back edit-quality HD footage without expansion boards. there isn't much use for it now.

Thanks man, that's what I was trying to understand. I had actually already search wikipedia for historic info and found none... now I get it.
