I am wondering about the placement of a set of stereo paired HomePods 2's. I have years of experience with The Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO). It adjusts for room acoustics with automatic dynamic level and equalization between its surround speakers. I will point out is never did a very good job on properly recorded surround music which is sadly mostly extinct but is now making a come back with Apple and its Atmos/Spatial audio. The computational audio on the HomePods is a different creature. I am wondering just how HomePod should be positioned. Specifically should they be in clear area with nothing within a foot or so of each speaker to allow its soundfield monitoring system to properly function?
