Hello,

Really driving me crazy.

My Folders are now all over the desktop.

Some, I can place where I want, some always immediately go back to a place on the extreme right
side of the screen when I release the Mouse button.

Have played with the Sort By, Snap to Grid, and the several Grid Spacing options.

Truly seems random as to which I can place, and the many that I can't.

So,

What option or techniques are there that will simply allow me to place the
Folders where I want, and they will stay there ?

Help with this is much appreciaged.

Thanks,
Bob

Had this some time ago... It is not bug of OS, it is corruption of configuration files.
This could be corrupted .DS_Store file on Desktop (it is hidden file, you have to make them visible) or plist file. These are files which store locations of files and other configurations. There is some discussion and links here : https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-of-files-and-folders-on-the-desktop.2177527/, Google can find many more.
You can use Onyx to rebuild .DS_Sore files, not sure if it helps and deleting the file manually may be faster. Deleting DS_store file in folder will reset folder to default view as new .DS_Store file is created.

I would argue that that's still a bug: something is still corrupting the configuration files in the first place. I might need to test that though and see whether it resolves it at this end.
