So generally for my long run I’ll plan it on footpath app, transfer over to Workoutdoors or just run it in the workout app. The problem is it’s always short. This morning was a 10k, my AW8 came in at 9.85km my old Garmin 9.97km.

Something not right somewhere. The problem is, say you’ve a weekly goal of 30km, these short distances all add up.

Looking at GPS tracks the things damn perfect, right down to side of street I’m on and it’s not rounding the corners like the SE would.

Is it possible that with the dual band GPS of the Ultra, it's giving you a more accurate view than the Garmin? Haven't Garmin's had, in some models, notorious GPS accuracy issues?

If you overlay the tracks from the Garmin and the Ultra on top of each other, which looks to be closer to your actual run? It might be better to make some specific movements at specific easily recognizable landmarks on your next run and repeat the experiment, with the overlaid tracks, and see how each device captures those movements.

For what it’s worth, I’ve never used a Garmin and I don’t know too much about them, but from what i do know, I think they’re top notch watches. If I left AW it would probably be for a Garmin. I just seem to remember that GPS variants got trashed now and then. I’m not sure if yours has dual band GPS?

I’m not using an Ultra. It’s an 8 and a forerunner 245, neither are dual band
