Whatever you do, get at least a Fusion Drive upgrade.

It's hard to say which iMac you need, because everyone has different needs. What do you normally use it for?

I am in a similar boat in that I plan on buying an iMAC later this year. I am waiting specifically for a refresh of the non-retina display models though. I want to get the $1500 model. The most I use my current PC desktop for is playing Eve-Online, and surfing the internet otherwise. This will be my transition over to be fully Mac. My laptop is a Macbook Pro.

It's definitely worth it. In fact, Apple should not sell Macs that only have a spinning HDD.

Get it, you'll not regret it.

Nope. If you want something that lasts longer than a hard drive, get a pure SSD/flash setup instead.

Fusion Drive basically gives you 90% of the speed of a pure SSD but with a large capacity.

i could get it with a 256GB Flash Storage

so is 256GB of Flash storages good for a imac dos that make things runs fast

----------

so what dos Fusion Drive give you that flash dos not has far has speeds go ?

Fusion Drive will basically give you almost the speed of an SSD (500-700MB/s in reads and about 400-500MB/s in writes), plus a large capacity.

Pure 256GB SSD can give you 680MB/s in writes and 720MB/s in reads. But to be honest, FD is already pretty mature. You don't need a pure SSD. Just stick to a FD setup.
