Hi all,
I have a mid 2014 MBP as my work computer (theirs. not my own) and I'd like to buy my own 2020 13" MBP for personal use.
As I will use many of the same applications on my personal MBP as my work MBP (Photoshop, Illustrator, possibly Xcode) I wondered if you guys could let me know if I could expect the same level of performance, or better, from the new MBP? I'm quite happy with the performance of the work computer so if it matches or betters that it would be great as I've had the work MBP for nearly 6 years and it's still working great.

Work MBP:
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15 inch, Mid 2014)
Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Planned 2020 MBP:
MacBook Pro (13 inch, 2020)
Processor: 2.0GHz quad-core 10th-generation Intel Core i5 Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
Memory: 16GB 3733 MHz LPDDR4X
Graphics: Intel Iris Plus

Seems like they would be comparable but the thing that makes me wonder is going 'down' from the i7 to the i5?

Thanks!

(note the difference between Geekbench 4 & 5, don't compare 4 to 5!)

I randomly picked a "better looking" benchmark out of the Geekbench query.
The Iris Plus (Open CL: 8777) will significantly outperform the Iris Pro (Open CL: 5127)
Now you can always debate the value of benchmarks, but IMHO the clear winner is ...
