Plantar Wart help

I have a plantar wart that I think is dead. It's shrunken from what its size was about 4 weeks ago and it's all black now. It's also half hanging off my foot and I can see the crater in my foot where it used to be "planted" *shudders* Is it ok if it falls off? Or is that bad?
