Plantronics 590 Bluetooth Headset Question

Both my Plantronics headset and my MacBook Pro advertise Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR compatibility, but I do not get stereo audio! When I select the Plantronics Headset in the Audio/Midi setup, I only get 1 channel 8Khz!

Is there a way to get stereo through bluetooth? Will OS X 10.5 support this feature better?
