Plastic on Home Button

I have the 3G model and I'm going to sell it on Ebay. I saw a bit of a lifting of plastic on my home button and one of my co-workers said I never removed the plastic covering from the home button from when it was new. I started peeling it off, but only a little came off. Now I'm wondering if I peeled something that isn't suppose to come off. Does anyone know? Thanks!

There was never plastic covering on the home button.
