I've had my iPhone for a few days and recently discovered ~3 pixel wide plastic shaving under the glass of the LCD. You can see it when the screen is off, and it shows up as a large black dot when using the phone. On top of this, there are about 7 dead pixels intersperced throughout the display.

I know that dead pixels are just something you have to live with when purchasing an LCD type of device, but the dust/plastic shaving is frustrating.

Does this warrant a return? I hate to be picky, but I want a device that is free of manufacturing dust/defects.

There are numerous reports of dust underneath the screen. Maybe that's what you are thinking is plastsic shaving? I have dust under my screen that has a whitish tint to it. Or it could be plastic shaving! I just thought I would offer my input, either way...apple will replace your phone because of dead pixels and dust/shaving.
