Hi newbie here, picked up dead 27" imac late 2009 model, dead video card. I have revived it, (well sort of), the fans were going crazy so i downloaded a couple apps and adjusted the speeds, but the platform control hub sensor is stating 60 c so i am assuming that is the culprit. could anyone advise of the location of this sensor. I would guess it is on the underside of the logic board. or any idea why this sensor is double any of my other sensors temperatures I am using istats and mac fan control

the platform control hub is part of the chipset (Northbridge, I guess) so would be part of that, probably imbedded in the chipset, or very close to it. I doubt it is a repairable item, unless you are near a large city that might have a full-service board repair company.

You can download the Apple Service Diagnostics somewhere, and test the hardware to see if the sensor is actually reported as a failure. For your Late 2009 27-inch iMac, you could search for a download for ASD 3S135
