I live in a mac family and we've got plenty of macs now that aren't used that often and I was wondering if it was even possible to either program or tinker with the iLamp (funky looking iMac with semi-spherical base and movable screen) to turn it into another monitor for a dual screen setup. If anybody has the answer to this question or where I might be able to find that answer i would greatly appreciate it!

Thanks

No dice. The closest thing you'll get is a remote desktop. But the OS has to up and running for that. You can't slave displays.

Or, you can rip the LCD and the guts out and make a cool digital photo frame that displays a cool slideshow or mount it on the wall and WiFi to an Airport with speakers and make a really cool wireless iTunes Juke Box.
