I missed the news, as I don't normally like using the Play.com store, but noticed that, for us in the UK, Play now offer a good alternative to iTMS. Their tracks are in MP3 format, and tend to be at 192 or 320kbps. The range isn't great, but as a jazz fan, I'm pleased to see that they have a healthy slice of ECM's catalogue on there. The best thing I've noticed is that if an album, say, only has 2 really long tracks, you can buy it for about £2. (Where as iTMS will make you buy the whole album at standard price.)
Like I say, the range isn't anywhere near as good as iTMS, but until Amazon launch their MP3 service in the UK, this is a good alternative for UK music fans.
