That link seemed like an odd work around.

You should be able to select the line in (in System Prefs: Sound)
and select Internal speakers to listen.

I would suggest turning the volume low on your ipod first, then testing how strong the signal is. Then turn it up more an more until you can get it to the loudest point without distortion.

Of course the other suggestion is to just get some powered speakers (if this is for an office or bedroom).

theres an app called linein, or line-in, not sure exactly as it's not on this machine.

It enables pass through, I use it to feed the audio from my PC through my iMac to my headphones

I can check the name and find where to download it from tomorrow if your still stuck :)

Oh yeah, you can also load up garage band create a real instrument, turn off all the effects and turn on monitoring, but this is far from perfect as garage band isn't exactly a lightweight app


Actually, now i think about it, some time ago i ask a similar question on these very forums, there's most likely alink to linein there
