I used to use my HP desktop as my stereo, and connected the tower to my reciever. It worked great and I do the same for my ibook. But I would like to keep the ibook closed and itunes still running. Is that possible?

Only if you want to over heat your laptop. If you read your manual it will say to never leave it running with the screen less then 90 degrees. This is because it vents through the keyboard.

Leave it open and have a nice Visualiser on the screen! Choose the right one and it'll send you to sleep :)

I would imagine that the Volcano kit visualiser for iTunes would look great if it's connected up to a music system.

You of all people should know what it says in the manual.

Also if you can tell me an Apple suggested method of using my Al15" with the lid closed I'd be grateful. The only way I can find is by fooling it at startup.

well i know its probably not advised, but it is a valid feature that i have used for many years and never had problems. before i had a desktop, i used my laptop as a desktop all the time and it ran like a champ non stop. probably the easist way to do lid closed is to put the computer to sleep by shutting the lid. plug in your monitor and a usb mouse or keyboard and wake it back with by pressing something.

Hmm yeah it doesn't work on mine but I guess that doesn't mean that mine is working correctly.
