play video in background via tv out cables

I often play videos in the car via the composite tv out cables connected to my in-car video screen. I would like to play this video in the background such that I can fire up maps or a GPS program on the iphone at the same time. Any suggestion on if this is possible?

Got this to work by configuring the iPod app as an Override within Backgrounder to use the "Backgrounder" method. Now I can play videos on the entertainment system in the car for the passengers while simultaneously running Navigon on my iPhone for GPS. Works perfectly!
