I installed a dvd into my imac and everytime I want to watch it I have to eject the dvd then reinsert it for it to start to play.Is there a way I can get the dvd to play without ejecting it first. When I right click on the icon that appears on my desktop it doesnt give me an option to play the disc.and if I click on the icon it opens two folders that are associated with the dvd but none of the folders will play the dvd.But if I eject it and reinstall it the movie starts to play instantly.Any help would be appriciated.

Have a look at System Preferences > CDs & DVDs.

When you mean DVD, you allude to video DVDs, and with installed you mean inserted, don't you?

The two folders are Audio_TS and Video_TS, aren't they?

If the System Preferences don't work, maybe have a go at repairing permissions via Disk Utility.

Also dragging the DVD icon from the Desktop onto the DVD Player icon in the Dock might work too.

Assuming that the DVD is in the computer, opening iDVD player from the Applications folder, or clicking on it if it's in the dock, should start the DVD playing.
